Elizabeth "Betty" Gaffney, 73 of Saylorsburg, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, at her home. She was the wife of the late Eugene Gaffney, who passed away in 1993.
She was born in Motherwell, Scotland, on Oct. 25, 1932, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Watt) Barr.
Betty had worked as a private Home Health Aide for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. She was also a member of the West End Irish American Club and the West End Ceili Club.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Mary "Beth" McCabe and her husband, John of Effort; a son, Eugene Gaffney and his wife, Catherine of Glendale, N.Y.; a brother Alexander Barr of Motherwell, Scotland; and four grandchildren: Kerry, Meghan and Caitlin McCabe and Taylor Gaffney.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 13 at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, PA. Internment is in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. |
